Tony Moly Dr. Tony AC Control Emulsion

Annyeong~ Today I'm back with another Korean skincare review ヽ(゚ー゚*ヽ). This is my first review from Tony Moly ( ⌒o⌒). Tony Moly is the third Korean brand that I knew back then. When my sis back from her trip to Singapore, she bought many products from Tony Moly such as toner, emulsion, BB cream, etc. I've used the emulsion from Dr. Tony AC Control series for several months and here what I think about this product (。・`ω´・。)

Description:

Nutritious milky lotion specialized for users with trouble-skin and acne-prone skin. It gets absorbed quickly while providing full hydration and replenishment for the skin without drying or irritations. Containing Sciadopitys Verticillata Root extract which soothe skin troubles and tighten pores for a firmer and healthier skin.

Direction
After essence/serum, apply an appropriate amount onto the skin. As you apply the lotion, massage in a circular motion for better absorption.

Cautions
For external use only. Do not apply to areas of the skin where sores, Eczema or dermatitis occur. Do not swallow and avoid contact with eyes or on skin which is sensitive to bandages or pad cloth. Discontinue usage and consult a dermatologist if signs of skin irritation and/or rash appear. Keep out of reach to children and store product away from direct sun exposure.

Packaging:

One thing I love the most from Tony Moly probably is their packaging. I can see that Tony Moly puts effort in their packaging as for their makeup range and skincare. I find most of the makeup is so adorable and cute although it's less cuter than Etude House (*≧▽≦) . And for skincare, the packaging doesn't look cheap. It looks pretty expensive instead and the weight is a bit heavy lol. Seriously even the cap is heavy (゜▽゜;). This emulsion comes in large and tall blue tube as it contains 140 ml. You can see how much the product left inside the tube (^v^)

 me holding the bottle
you can see how tall the tube is 。◕‿◕。

Application:

I don't really like this kind of application (;-_-). Sometimes I pour too little of the product and when I try to pour out more, I accidentally pour out too much argh (>д<). I prefer the pump type la coz it's more efficient and hygienic. In the direction above, it said to be used after essence or serum. Coz I don't use any serum or essence, I use this emulsion after toner also from Dr. Tony Control series (^▽^). One thing I like from this emulsion is it absorbs really quickly into my skin and not sticky. But I kinda suspicious of its ingredients. I think this emulsion is oil base as it leaves greasy feeling on my palm after using it. The feel is kinda the same when I'm using body butter hahaha. Or maybe it's just my feeling? My sis can't use every products from this series although she has acne prone skin and this series is supposed for trouble or acne prone skin. For me it works just fine. I often break out when having my period and I don't dare to using this emulsion at that time. I switch my emulsion into my Faceshop Aloe Fresh Soothing Lotion ( ̄ー ̄). My Faceshop lotion never never never break me out even when I'm having my period (review here)

Texture & Scent:

The texture is a bit thick but it's less watery than my Faceshop lotion. And for the scent I find it's really pleasant. Most of the products for acne prone skin have unpleasant or some kind of medicine scent but this one isn't (*^▽^*)

the texture is a bit thick but watery

spread it out

absorb really fast! (*°▽°*)

Result:

After using it for several months, I'm quite satisfied with the result. My skin is moisturized without feeling greasy (⌒▽⌒). The only downfall probably is I couldn't use this emulsion when I'm having my period coz it would worse my pimples (*≧m≦*)

Like:
  • Expensive looking packaging lol
  • Absorbs really quickly into my skin
  • No greasy or oily feeling on my face
  • Has pleasant scent

Dislike:
  • Sometimes I accidentally pour out too much product
  • The tube is a bit heavy
  • Not every trouble or acne prone skin can use this emulsion
  • Can worse my pimples during period

Where to get:

My sis bought this during her trip to Singapore at Tony Moly counter and she forgot the price (°◇°;). I'm really sorry *bows down*

What about you? Have you tried any skincare products from Tony Moly? What do you think? (^_^)

Thanks for reading and see ya! Bye~ ヾ(^∇^)

    1. hi :)
i mean i tend to break out a little during my period, and when i was this emulsion during my period, my pimples would got bigger and redder than it should be :(
and the other downside is my face feel greasy when using this emulsion, it seems this emulsion is oil-based one :/
my sis has acne prone skin but she couldn't use any product from this series, her skin would break out really badly :(
For acne, I recommend you to use Faceshop Clean Face series or Etude House AC Clinic series :) :) I love use those series the most :D
      Hope it would help! ^^

  4. It has been 2 months I use this product. I hv the same problem with your sister I think. The pimples are getting worse :( it makes my face look more oily due to this product is oily based. Do you have any suggestion to reduce the acne scar and the redness? Could I use bb cream after use emulsion? Thank you..

    1. I know right because this emulsion is oil-based, my face feels greasy after using this product :/
For acne scar if you could invest more for higher brand product, I suggest you to try Kiehl's Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution. Many youtuber and blogger are raving about this product saying it's great to reduce acne scar ^^
If you want much cheaper product, then I suggest you to try Skinfood Tomato Whitening Spot Serum :)
For redness you may try Innisfree Jejubija Recover Gel :)

If you want to use bb cream after emulsion, I'd say it depends on your skin condition (dry, oily, normal, combination), the type of bb cream that you gonna use and the emulsion itself :3
For example if you have dry flaky skin and you want to use a bb cream that directed for people with combination oily skin then you might use emulsion or moisturizer beforehand ^^
For me I found it's a bit greasy to use emulsion before bb cream cuz I have combination oily skin (oily on t-zone and dry cheeks area) so usually I only put my sunscreen and then bb cream and I'm ready to go :D
